Take a minute, relax and recall the perfect summer day. A lemonade in
one hand, a classic novel in the other, and against the garage a vintage bicycle from an earlier morning ride.

Due to the unique characteristics of this printing process, slight variations will occur within the fabrics such as the occasional white speckle, seen above. We have developed our collection with this in mind, and have designed our prints to complement this quality.
It's a barefoot walk in the sand; it's a lazy afternoon nap, and it's your first sight of the Mediterranean coast. It's life at its simplest, and nature in its wordless beauty. Here at Rubie Green, our mission is to dress your surroundings in fabrics that represent vitality, energy, comfort and style, all while maintaining respect to the environment by using only 100% organic cotton. We believe in classic designs that are familiar to every decade, re-vitalized in an eco-friendly manner. We know that natural does not mean boring, and that interiors make a house a home.

Rubie Green is the creation of designer Michelle Adams. A budding interior designer since childhood, Michelle was perhaps the only ten-year-old who asked for curtains for her birthday and rearranged her room for fun. She went on to study apparel and textile design at Michigan State University, where she took a course in sustainability that opened her eyes to the importance of environmentally friendly design. According to Michelle, "our professor taught us that if we were going to put more products onto the earth then we needed to do so responsibly. It's a concept that has stuck with me throughout the entire manufacturing process, despite the fact that it would have been twenty times easier to manufacture in traditional ways."
After school, Michelle honed her aesthetic at domino, where she landed her dream job scouring the country (and the world!) for the newest and best in home décor. While working on the magazine’s inaugural "green issue," she realized no one was making eco-friendly textiles in classic prints and saw an opportunity to combine her two passions: design and sustainability. So, in 2007 she left the magazine to start Rubie Green.
Michelle lives in Manhattan and dreams of the day when she will have an actual kitchen and maybe a walk-in closet. She is continually inspired by decorating magazines and the city, and she loves to travel. Check out her blog for some of her favorite finds.
Upholstery Fabrics
At Rubie Green our team underwent months of research, trade shows and meetings to find what we believe is the most eco-friendly printing method available. Our upholstery fabrics are made of 100% certified organic cotton, which is whitened without bleach and printed here in the US. We print with water-based, non-toxic inks that contain no volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), and utilize a printing process that minimizes water consumption. In fact, the factory uses only one gallon of water per day! This was an exciting discovery for our team as water plays such an integral role in most other methods of printing. We also wanted to avoid fabric waste so we decided to print only on demand, using heat and pressure to finish our fabrics instead of chemicals.
Fabric Care Instructions
Due to the absence of chemicals in the finishing process, our fabrics must be professionally dry cleaned. We of course recommend using an organic dry cleaner whenever possible. Machine washing is not recommended as it will cause fading to occur, and please note that our fabrics are for indoor use only.
